![]() I made these lower gear attch brackets per Larry Flesner directions, that will be added below. They are made out of .250 4130 steel bent to a 45 deg with center gusset welded in.
Here is a pic of the main gear legs
Here is a pic of one of the upper brackets after being welded by the same welder from work. The brackets are a cross between the Diehl brackets and the TET brackets. In that they are made the size of TET's but with leg deflection of the Diehl's. They are made from 125 4130 and welded with 4130 rod. This is a back view.
Here is a pic with one of the leg's clamped on just to see how it fit. Looks like a hit.
The nose gear is all put together and just sitting in the mount tube, I still need to weld the struts from the nose mount to the engine mount. But it sure is starting to look like an airplane. This picture is from the cockpit side showing how I reinforced the nose gear attach point and also the lower engine mount points. The bottom wrap around engine pads will be drilled from the outside bottom through the angle to give six mounting points plus the nose gear.

![]() The welding was done by our welder at work, he is aircraft certified to weld on F-16's. He is a master
Yet another pic
Here is a front view of the bracket, as you can see he did an outstanding job on the welding.
Above is a picture of the main gear attached to the plane.
Here is a picture of the nose gear mount I had made at work, per Mark Jones. As you can see I still need to weld on the mount supports to the engine mount. |
